About the Ion Channel Group
The Ion Channel Group is headed by Professor Søren-Peter Olesen and consists of 4-6 senior scientists, 10-12 graduate and 2-3 undergraduate students.
The research of our group is concerned with ion transport processes, in particular through potassium channels. The laboratory has specialized in the study of the molecular, cellular and in vivo function of voltage gated potassium channels in the heart and in the nervous system. We are using various methods such as electrophysiological techniques, molecular and cell biology as well as various imaging techniques.
The laboratory is part of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The group is part of the Danish Arrhythmia Research Center (DARC) that aims at clarifying mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmia.
